It is always satisfying for efforts to be recognised and during the course of the year, Tomkins and its operating companies were proud to receive numerous awards and accolades. Some of these are noted below.

Inclusion in FTSE4Good Index

Tomkins maintained its inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index for a third successive year. The FTSE4Good Index Series measures the performance of companies that meet globally recognised corporate responsibility standards.

Building Public Trust award for economic reporting

Tomkins was once again shortlisted for the Building Public Trust award for excellence in economic reporting. Tomkins has won this award on three occasions and previously the judging panel commented “Tomkins delivers complex information in a straightforward way: its report is easy to understand and manages to show how economic performance is central to management focus. Its accounts are thorough, informative and outstandingly clear.”

Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance Supplier Award

Plews-Edelmann received an Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance Supplier Award in 2006 in recognition of its excellent performance and status as a valued and appreciated partner.

Scottish Export Award

The Gates plant in Dumfries, Scotland received the top Export Award from Scotland 's Enterprise Minister for achieving a high level of excellence in the export of products to some of the most prestigious names in the motorbike world. The award underscored the plant's ability to compete with excellence in products and services.

Operational Excellence Partnership Award

Gates was honoured by Motion Industries, Inc., one of North America 's leading distributors of industrial maintenance, repair and operation replacement parts, with an Operational Excellence Partnership award. The award recognises suppliers who achieved significant process improvements with Motion Industries by meeting Operational Excellence performance objectives, including system connectivity, efficiency gains and customer service enhancements.

Gates Unitta Awards

Gates Unitta in Nara, Japan received Seiko Epson Corporation's Chemical Substance Management Award, acknowledging the company as one of their most highly-qualified suppliers. It also received an Excellent Supplier award from the Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Company in China.
